The Amur Leopard is considered to be one of
the most big cats in the world, with just 35
remaining in the wild, all in the Russian Far
East.
This beautiful leopard is well adapted to living
in the harsh, cold climates of its range, with a
thick coat that can grow as long as 7 cm in
winter.
Amur Leopard intrinsic values are Its beautiful skin
is highly prized and a male skin can fetch up to 500

unique coat which has widely spaced rosettes with
thick black borders makes it easy to distinguish from
other animals.

habitat they live in the temperate
forests of Far Eastern Russia,

hunting, fires and habitat loss. The leopards often favor the
same prey as Amur tigers, so both these species of big cat
are affected.
Because so few Amur leopards remain, they’re vulnerable
to the effects of inbreeding. This can reduce the health and
fitness of individuals or whole populations.
Amur leopards are also at risk from poaching for the illegal
trade in body parts. Their beautiful coats are particularly
sought after as well as their bones which are used in Asian
medicines.
Amur leopards are predators.
we humans should be concerned for these
animals because Amur leopards are top
predators which means they play a crucial
role in maintaining a healthy balance of
species within their habitat. This influences
the condition of the forest and overall
ecosystem which supplies both nature and
people with food, freshwater and many
other resources.Also they are on the
endangered list.
