Dear Pal,

This is our school, the Allen Brook School.   It 

looks like a blue lego piece.

Our school motto is "Be Safe, Be Kind, Be 

Responsible."

I like our school motto because it keeps us 

safe to learn, to play and have fun together.

Dear Pal,

This is a picture of Williston Central School.  

Only Kindergarten to 2nd grade go to the Allen 

Brook School.   At this school, we have 3rd-8th 

grade.

The buses take us to and from school and even 

between the two schools.

When I am in 3rd grade, I will go to this 

school.

Dear Pal,

At our school, we have our own garden. We also compost our 

left-over food.   We make our own soil for this garden.   We also 

have a Garden Club.   We get to go to the garden to plant new 

plants and leaves.   We plant potatoes, zucchini,cucumbers and 

most of all sunflowers.   I like the sunflowers.   We plant other 

plants too, but I like the sunflowers the best.

In this picture, we are having soup made from ingredients 

from our own garden.

This is a picture of our play-ground. At our school, we also have a wind turbine 

that is like a wind mill. It spins very fast in the wind and we get electricity from 

it for our lights at our school.

Dear Pal,

Around our school we have walking trails and nature walks.   I 

like these walk ways because I can ride my bike and my 

scooter and my skate-board on them.   It is fun.

Dear Pal,

My name is Lauren.   I will tell you about our Kiva.   It is a large 

space that we have with 3 other classrooms on our Team 

Harmony.   We are all 1st and 2nd grade classes. We meet 

there every Monday and Friday and we sing songs and share 

about our learning that week.   It is fun.

My name is Ayden and I will tell you about all the technology we use in our 

classroom.

We have MP3 players, laptops and computers.   We also have a Mimio and a 

document camera.

We have a smartboard in our library.   We go there sometimes to use it, but we 

use our Mimio in our classroom most of the time.

We also have a computer lab that we use often.   I like computers. Do you?

My name is Alexis.   Our library has lots of books.   I 

like to take out books. I like to read.   We have 

library once a week.

My name is Kyle.   I will tell you about where we live.

We live in the northern part of Vermont.   We live close to a 

town called Burlington, but we live in a town called Williston.

Burlington has about 60,000 people and it is on Lake 

Champlain, the largest lake in Vermont.

There are lots of businesses, stores and restaurants in 

Burlington.   The biggest street is called Church Street.   It is a 

walking street only, with lots of cafes and stores.   Ben & 

Jerry's are there.   Yum!

This is the fire station in our town, Williston.   It 

is close to our school, the Allen Brook School.

Sometimes the fire-fighters visit our school to 

teach us about fire safety.   Sometimes, we go 

and visit them.   I have been there.   It is a big 

station.

It is a new station too.

This is a picture of our town.   Our town was 

chartered in 1781 so it is very old.

Our town library is in town and it is fun to go 

go.   They have many books and magazines.   It 

is called the Dorothy Alling Library.

The brick building is our Town Hall.

about our movie theater Majestic 10.   The 

colors are purple, red and green (you can see 

that on this picture).

They show many different movies.

They also sell popcorn, candy and soda.   My 

family and I go there sometimes.

My name is Taylor and I am going to tell you about some 

stores we have here.

We have Shaw's for groceries and Walmart.   We also have the 

Children's Place in the mall. In the mall, we also have the Gap, 

JC Penney's.   In Williston, we also have Toys R Us and Old 

Navy.

We have many restaurant too.   We have Chili's and Longhorn 

Steakhouse and many pizza places and restaurants with food 

from other countries.   It is Yummy!

My name is Emma.   I will tell you about our community.   We 

have lots of farms where we live.   We also have many woods 

and forests.   It is rural where we live.

We have lots of cows here.   We also have lots of sheep, horses 

and chickens.

We also have lots of dirt roads with woods around.   These 

woods have lots of wild animals like rabbits.
