Once upon a time, there was a man and his wife, they each owned a goose that laid golden eggs.

Every day their goose would lay an egg.

The man decided to take his eggs and diversify his investments in mutual funds and an IRA retirement account to save for the future.
The man's wife did not care about saving for the future and decided not to invest her eggs in anything. Instead, she takes her eggs and spends them on buying things she wants.

The man wants to make sure he has money to live off of when he can't work anymore. The man's wife is very greedy. She is not satisfied with what she has and wants more. She was a get rich quick kind of woman.

The wife wants to get rich faster. She thinks she can have all the golden eggs inside the goose and won’t have to wait for the goose to lay her an egg every day. She decided to cut her open and kill her goose, to only find that the goose was just like every other goose. There was nothing inside, so now she had no more golden eggs to buy anything.

The man’s wife was left with nothing and has no money left for retirement. The man still had his goose and all his golden eggs, because he invested them wisely and now has enough money for retirement due to the yield he has earned on his investments .

Moral: One who desires more, loses all.
