Introduction
Cricket is a bat and ball game played between two teams of 11 players on an oval shaped grass field. In the centre of the field is a rectangular
22-yard-long pitch, with three stumps or wickets at each end.
Depending on who wins the coin toss one team will bat and the other will bowl and field.
The team that bats first will have to score as many runs in a limited time frame or limited deliveries known as 'balls'. The bowling team must attempt to get the other team all out by taking wickets in many different ways or at least restrict them from getting many runs. Then the bowling team must attempt to chase down the other teams total, if they manage to reach it they win if not the other team wins.

Cricket is played by over 120 Million players internationally making it the world's second most popular sport.
There are several forms of cricket, test cricket expands over four or five days and batsmen are looking to bat for a long time , Twenty20 the shortest form which is just 20 overs each way and when the batsmen become more aggressive as they have less time to bat.
And finally ODI batsmen are still more attacking but at a slower rate because they have a larger time frame to bat in.

Batting
Equipment
To start batting you need quite a bit of gear. The main parts are a helmet, a pair of gloves, leg pads, thigh pads, an armguard if you choose to, a box (private part protector) and of course a bat.
Choosing a Bat
When choosing a bat don't worry about the brand stickers or the colours
what is most important is the feel of the bat in your hands. By that I mean
the weight, if it is too heavy your bat swing wont be as powerful as it could be.

Scoring
When you're batting the main focus is to score runs. To score runs you must hit the ball toward the boundary rope, if it gets there that means you have scored four runs, if not, to get the runs you must run between the wickets. The biggest way of scoring is to hit sixes, to do that the ball must be hit over the boundary on the full.
Milestones
Like this When you're batting the amount of runs y you have scored individually is counted a and when batsmen get to 100,150,200 e etc they celebrate but that is never the a end as there are still more runs to get.
Simple Batting Tips
-To time the ball well, wait for it to be under just in front of your front knee before you swing
-When playing aggressively it doesn't mean swing the bat hard at the ball, all you need to do is look for gaps in the field (where there are no fielders)
and time the ball well.
-When batting, it is always good to have soft hands this will help when trying to work the ball around the ground, if you have hard hands you won't be able to move the bat as much in your hands.
Taking guard
When batsmen come out to bat the first thing they check is their stumps (wickets) because it is their job to protect them. You can do this by lining up your bat with the stump you want to stand in front of and when it is perfect drag a line in the pitch to tell you if your in line or not with the stump. Then place the end of your boots on the marked line.
Dismissals
When you're batting you never want to get out but it happens to everyone and there are multiple ways of doing so. And some are more common then others.
Bowled is When the ball goes past you and hits the wickets, it is probably one of the most common dismissals there are.
Caught the most simple way of getting out; when you hit the ball in the air and it is caught by one of the opposing players on the full.
Hit Wicket is the most annoying way to go when you hit your own wicket with your bat, leg, foot, arm etc.
Run Out is when you have hit the ball and go for a run or 2 and the fielder hits the wicket before you make it back.
LBW Leg Before Wicket is when the ball hits your leg pad without hitting your bat and would have hit the wicket if your leg was out of the way.
On Field Obstruction is when you kick the ball away from a fielder so you are not run out, push a fielder over etc.
Handling The Ball When as a batsmen you hold the ball in your hand this is a very uncommon dismissal.
Basic Shots
Front Foot Defence
Back lift and foot to the pitch of the ball (where it bounces)
Bat comes through close to your front leg.
Finish in a strong stance with your bat close to your leg.
Front Foot Drive
High back lift to give your swing more power
Come through showing the full face of the bat
Large follow through for more power
Back Foot Cut
Back foot goes back and across to reach the ball
Bring your hands around with a horizontal Bat
Bring bat through with a strong and balanced stance
Back Foot Drive
High back lift in behind your self
Come through with a straight Bat
Follow through
Pull Shot
Hands And Back foot back and across
Come around with open arms to give your self room
Follow through and around to your sholders
Leg Glance
Open front Leg towards the ball
Bring your bat through on an angle beside your leg
Let ball hit the bat then roll your wrists
Bowling
Bowling is a obvious must in cricket, but a funny thing about bowling is it's one of the most unnatural actions in sport. There are many different types of bowling actions, pace bowling, medium pace and medium those are just the fast ones, but there are many more like spin bowling top spin off spin leg spin and more.
When bowling pace it is most important you a good length by that I mean close to the batsmen's feet to make them play on the front foot to get a caught behind (edge to the keeper). There are many other lengths to Like:
Bowling Pace
When bowlers bowl they think of different plans to get a batsmen out and one way the do this is change the way they bowl, as in holding the ball different bowling different lengths and changing were fielders are and making the ball move in the air. You can do it yourself by doing some simple changes to your bowling every now and then.
To make the ball swing when playing a game of cricket when the ball gets older shine one side of the ball, so one side is shiny and the other is rough so the ball will swing towards the rough side.
