Alex has been having trouble seeing things that were up close. When he tells his mom, she decides to take him to the eye doctor. 

When Alex and his mom get there, Alex's mom tells the doctor what is wrong. The doctor begins to tell them what is happening. 

Eyes are made of lots of different parts. Each part has a use.

Light goes through a transparent surface at the front of the eye called the Cornea. The cornea protects the eye and acts like a lens to help focus the light.

The black looking part of the eye is called the pupil. After the light goes passes the cornea, it goes through the pupil and into the inside of the eye.

Around the pupil there is a muscle called the iris. The iris contracts and expands, controlling the amount of light that goes in the eye. The iris the colorful part of the eye.
