Hi my name is Valeria Blake McLennan, I'm just a normal girl who used to watch TV next to their dead mother, a girl who's father is A ghost-hunter, a girl who moved states while she was asleep, went to Harvard University, made some friends, but there was one girl. one girl she thought she could trust, knocked her trust away like a wrecking ball.
No, I'm not joking this is serious.
You probably are confused right now so let me explain the full story...
I liked it.
Rain attacked the roof.
Shooting the windows like bullets.
Big drops of it soaked my hair.
They say it’s just water. Trust me, it’s not.
The rain was a killer.
It will leave you petrified.
Boom.
The thunder chomped and crunched like a bright red apple.
They said the sky was grey.
To me, it wasn’t.
To me… It was Black.
A fearful black.
An Infinite black.
I woke up to the loud and booming noises of thunder and lightning, there was no way we were going to have class. I get up and look outside the window. Massachusetts is flooding. There was over a meter of water covering the streets, cars were sinking, the sky was dark, clouds glowed every time lightning struck. It was a catastrophe.
“It’s so loud outside, everybody just shut up” June groaned, “its raining like crazy” I said climbing down the beds ladder.
“hey” I smiled to Sam, “good morning” she gushed, “does this mean we don’t have classes today?” Claire managed to ask while brushing her teeth, “I mean we should have some classes” I shrugged.
We finished getting ready and headed to Reggie and Teddy’s room, then the six of us strolled to the main hall. There were no empty tables, so we ended up sitting on the floor and had our breakfast. “can I try” I asked Reggie, I knew I could skateboard I just haven’t done that in a while, “sure” he nodded handing me the skateboard.
I took the skateboard and ran outside. I felt a cold shiver all over my body. The wind was howling, the leaves from the trees were rustling. I was all by myself caught in this storm. Nobody else was outside except for me and Reggie. Everybody else went inside to cover up from the storm. I heard the whoosh from the waves as they crash towards the buildings. I knew everything was going to be destroyed.
I held myself tightly. In the distance I could see the storm terrorizing the town up ahead. It was coming. The sky started to rumble really loudly. I saw a flash of lightning up ahead. “VAL” Reggie yelled. Now the storm was getting really close. I closed my eyes just as another flash of lightning bolted down from the sky. The thunder rolled again for a really long time. Another lightning bolt came from the sky.
A crackling sound of thunder made me shiver. I started to walk, then paddle, and then I swim as fast as I could towards Reggie. I stopped silently as the wind died down a bit but not for long. A huge tsunami wave hit the school building.
Students and professors ran out of the school, I could see June, Teddy, Sam, and Claire from here they all looked so worried. The school walls fell to the ground and broken pieces of glass shattered everywhere. The wind grew stronger which only made the rain heavier. buildings fell apart, bodies drowned in the flood, and I safely made it back into my friends’ wide, open arms, with all of our bodies close with one another, we held each other tight. A shadow hugged the top of our heads, we look up and see a huge tsunami wave hovering over us.
I was holding on for dear life.
I didn’t turn around.
I wouldn’t open my eyes.
I just held on for dear life.
Slowly rising from the depths of nothingness, feelings return to my fingers and toes, I grunted, rolled over and curled up more tightly, hugging my knees between my arms.
Something about the atmosphere surrounding me didn't seem right, so cautiously opening one eye I quickly scanned the room.
Awareness came in a flash, this was not within my comfort zone, this was strange and, in some ways, frightening. What had happened - how did I get here - why was I here ? So many thoughts scrambled myself to the surface in panic that a thin layer of sweat began to form on my brow and upper lip. Fear was setting in and there was nothing I could do to stop it, no comforting words or thoughts, nothing heartening came to mind. Then I realize that I’m not in here alone, I instantly get up once I see Sam lying down on the floor, I shake her to wake up, I felt a cold, light hand rest on my shoulders. “she’s not going to wake up” a voice purred in my ear. I slowly turn around and I see my mom but- but she’s transparent, I could see right through her, “mom” I uttered in a very shaky voice, “you- I… er- I can see right through you” “you’re a ghost” I gasped. “well, what do expect should I die and turn into ashes in a grave” she scoffed, “where is everybody and what do you want” “that book” her eyes moved from my eyes to the wet floor, there was a book beside me titled: ‘WHERE DO GHOSTS GO AND HOW TO GET RID OF THEM’ I quickly grabbed the book and held it to my chest.
“wake Samantha up and I’ll give you the book” I grunted as she tried grabbing the book from me, “oh I killed her” she shrugged, “you did what”
“I said I killed her didn’t you hear me I killed oh wait I don’t think humans understand ghost let me be more specific, I wrapped my fingers around her neck, and squeezed it while I hid your friends until she turned blue then I sucked her soul out of her body- and when I tell you she had the loudest scream Ugh that was irritating” she smiled,
“but why Sam why did you murder her” I argued,
“oh she never told you” “poor thing” “sweetie I didn’t just die I got murdered didn’t you see the scratch right here?” she pointed to her wrist, I shook my head in denial, “who did it” I looked at her, “come” she said walking towards a broken balcony “sit” I sat down swinging my legs looking down at the broken town.
“before I married your father I used to know this man who liked me a lot back in high school, I remember he would keep asking me to go out with him or be his prom date, but I kept rejecting him, years later I met your father and the same boy kept stalking me and kept asking me to be his”
“who is this ‘boy’” I interrupted, “his name was Thomas Ray" she continued,
“eventually when you and your dad both left the house he walked in and slit my wrist I was high so I didn’t know what to do or how to react.”
“and what does this have to do with Samantha” I didn’t make eye contact with her, but I was fidgeting with broken pieces of bricks and glass.
“Thomas Ray is Samantha’s dad” I turned around shocked at what I just heard.
“I’m not done yet, so once you die you turn into a ghost. As soon as my blood stopped running out of my hand, Thomas knew I was dead, he quickly got up and cleaned the blood then left me lying on the couch lifeless without anyone realizing, when he went back to his house, I followed him, waiting to get revenge on him, I saw Samantha sitting in her room. He told her he had just killed me and now it was time to get rid of you and your father, she hacked into Yale Universities website and that’s when she sent you the SMS saying that you weren’t accepted. So, you know how your dad has been wanting to move houses and how he said that on his live, anyways they found a house here in Massachusetts and set it up for sale and sent the ad to your father, and of course your dad loved the house, so you two moved out."
