Big Mutt
Written by Chinelo Uchegbu
Hello People,
My name is Doug. I am here to tell you the story of the day I got chased by a 347 pound mutt that was 35 and a half feet tall and was as big as the Willis Tower. You may think that this is an incredibly dumb story and you’d might tell your friends that I’m crazy. But you haven’t heard my side of the story. Let’s go to the beginning shall we?
I was walking on the street minding my own business when I heard people screaming and shouting: “HELP” “HELP”! “There is a big mutt on the street and he’s getting ready for his lunch!”.
“A big mutt on the street?” I said, “Nonsense!” But, when the stomps of the dog got louder and louder, I knew I could not refuse
The dog sniffed me and then he licked me. The dog’s mouth smelled so bad I could hardly breathe. “EwEw!” I said. I took off like a bullet, and the dog followed.
The dog kept chasing me and chasing me. By the time I got to the park I was exhausted. I stopped and froze when the dog got so close to me.
“Uh-Uh-Uh”. I stuttered. The dog looked me in the eye and held out his paw.
“You-You-You're hurt.” I said. So that’s the reason he was chasing me, I thought. He was hurt so he was asking for help!”
I quietly but gently took the thorn out of the mutt’s paw. The dog bellowed with pain. I took a band-aid and applied it to its hand. The dog licked me happily.
“eWeW”. I said “How many times do you have to do this?” I then smiled and said “Come on buddy. “Let’s go home.”
I took the dog to my house. My mom and dad gawked. My four year old sister climbed up the dog and happily yelled. “Why, How, Who”... My parents started to say.
“Just go with it,'' I said. And they did.
We named the dog Big Buddy because that’s the name I suggested. We got it a big dog house where it can sleep, play, and eat. So when our neighbors came walking by, they nearly fainted.
This is the true story of how I saved a mutt that was chasing me on the street. I have lived long enough to tell the story to others. They were surprised! Now my four year old sister and I are older now, and we decided to keep the dog forever.

The Starburst Thief
Written by Chinelo Uchegbu
One September afternoon, I was sitting on top of my favorite pine cone tree, when I heard a noise. I smelled the smells around my tree, sniffed the scent of the cool September breeze and jumped down. I ran to see who was coming when the sound was getting closer… *crunch* *crunch* *crunch!* Two kids happily laughing with 5 packs of starburst were coming. They were getting closer and closer! I made plans of escaping… But I couldn’t ignore the sweet smell of my favorite chewing candy that I used to steal from kids a long time ago. I dashed toward the kids then I leaped, ripped open the bag and snatched 10 candies from it
“HEY”! One of the kids shouted, I ran as fast as I could. Suddenly I tripped over a branch and the candies fell, but I picked them up and ran up my tree.
The two kids got objects and tried to hit me and my tree. Luckily for them, one of the kids was very strong, so he grabbed a tree branch and threw it at my tree. The tree started to wobble and shake. Then they started attacking me!. I was in so much pain that I made an attack of my own. I threw pine cones at them. Then they ran home screaming:
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHH” “This crazy chipmunk is attacking us!!!”
I saw them, running home, into their houses and closing their door shut. I could imagine them, telling their mommies and daddies that I, the worlds smartest chipmunk was attacking them with small pine cones.
"Those kids should be ashamed of themselves, getting beaten up by a chipmunk. Such cowards"! I nibbled on my starburst in delight.
Once again I successfully took candy from kids. I have done it over the years and I can’t wait to do it again.

A New Home

My Name is Tuitie. I am at least 4 and a half years old. My parents got killed by a bunch of hunters when I was 3. I feel like crying now, So I don’t want to describe the details.
I live on my own now, and actually it's fun. I get to do whatever I want, and to be honest, I miss my parents even more. I walk around the forest and into the valley.
But then I spotted something…
It looked like a valley, but it had lots of buildings and weird looking frogs with wheels.
I walked onto the street and saw lots of humans. I’ve seen humans before. They are evil. They are the ones that attack animals!
Then I saw a girl on the street. She was at least 4 like me. She helped me walk to the sidewalk and she asked:
“What is your name?” “My name is Chole!”
I tried to say: “My name is Tuitie”, But I don’t think humans can talk to animals. I was already starting to like Chole. She is a very kind human. Chole walked me home and asked me questions along the way. I was thinking If we could be sisters!
For all I know, I don’t really know If I will forgive the hunters who killed my parents. At least I have a new family. A New Home.

Golocieus

Hi, I’m Golocieus Redgem. I was born on this Planet called Goloxiea.
I traveled to earth to take notes and become friends. We have to go to a place called school. I don't know what "School" is all about but I have to wait and see
I sit with a few kids in my class. They ask me lots of questions about my family, what superheroes I like, what foods I eat, my favorite color, All sorts of things! I scribble the questions they ask me. The way of human life is so interesting.
Our teacher Ms. Loe teaches us all sorts of things. I learned how to count, and read, and write. I didn’t know what fractions were though, but they are cool!
We use this weird letter board and a screen. “ It’s called a computer”. Said Keyon. I scribbled that down with all my other things.
At lunch, the kids ate different food than mine. “What is Lunch?” I asked. “Lunch is something you eat; or put in your mouth”. Said, Leslie.
After that long day, I went home. I told my parents what an awesome day I had. Some kids asked me to come over to their houses. I can’t believe that everyone likes me now!
I couldn't stay long on Earth. I had to leave one day. But I would never forget the day I traveled to the most fascinating place in the universe. Earth.

Different

My name is Leo. Sounds like a boy's name, huh? Well, I think it isn't. But some people make fun of my name.
My parents are rich, SUPER rich. They cared about everything I needed: all my food, their love for me, everything! They gave me an ugly purple room with stuffed animals and a hideous picture of a cute unicorn. I seriously don't like purple. I think it's a putrid stinky color. I only like black and gray and pink!
The people in my school don't want anything to do with me. I often get into fights at my school. The bullies don't want anything to do with me. So they don't make fun of people at all.
Among all the people that are scared of me, I have a few friends. Nanni Slay is just like me, fierce, and Zizuiu Bao does karate. We are a group of outlaws, so we don't follow the rules much.
Well, that's all from me. I have a very wonderful life and I can't wait to spend it. Leo out!

An Unexpected Life

My family and I were poor. We lived in a tent over by the stream around the forest in Texas.
We washed our clothes in the stream too. My Dad would catch buffalo and roast it in the fire. We didn’t have matches as we do now, So it was hard at night to find rocks and sticks; We set plans for getting stones and twigs, but it wasn’t easy because the beavers needed them for their den.
Shivering under my tent at night, I dreamed of being an astronaut. I looked up at the star and said:
“I’m gonna be an astronaut one day.”
The Next Day…
I rushed to the garbage bins and gathered glass early that morning. I gathered anything I could find. People would ask
“What is that crazy girl doing in the garbage bin.” Is she nuts”?
I didn’t have anything to do with their unintentional conversation. I ran back to the woods and started to mold my creation. After days and nights working, I built my very own telescope, without even looking for an instruction paper people would toss in the center of town.
We didn’t have money so we couldn’t eat at the diner and pay for big houses.
Or schools.
But one day when Mom and Dad went out looking for deer, I took my telescope and ran out of the forest to a nearby school. I went searching for a place to learn about astronomy, because I wanted to become an astronaut. Lucky enough, there was a free school that was happening outside, So I rushed to an empty seat, and sat down.
I then saw three kids raising their hands for help, because it was their first day here, I thought I could fit in too. I raised my hand for an astronomy book. The teacher didn’t recognize me, so she asked:
“What is your name”?
I smiled and said:
“Amber.” “Amber Notica”
She gave me a book and shook my hand. She said I was going to have a great time learning astronomy.
I smiled. And nodded
Now, I am real astronaut. And thanks to me, My family has a better home. People still recognize me as that crazy girl in the trash bin, but I smile and laugh out loud.

Oh, What a Wonderful World!
By Chinelo Uchegbu
I live in a small town in Kansas. And believe me, the town is a criminal town. There are lots of bad things and people around here. So i'm scared every time I go to school.
Mr. Hanas doesn't care. He keeps singing: Oh, What a Wonderful World!" Even though it isn't. I walked up to Mr. Hanas and asked him why he kept singing the song even though our world has sins.
"Young boy". He said. "Our world is made up of good people and bad people". "Our world is Wonderful just the way God made it." That's why when I sing, Oh What a wonderful World, I really mean it. "Because our world is beautiful jut they way it is".
I thought about it.
The Next day I hummed along to Mr. Hanas' song. Then I was able to sing the lyrics
Oh, What a Wonderful World,
Oh, What a Wonderful World,
Our world is good,
The way it should
Oh, What a wonderful World.
From the trees,
to the bees
From the hounds
to the sounds
The way it always is
its always good
Oh, What a Wonderful World.
