January
It's the first month of the year. It's winter month. The lakes and rivers, the streets and forests are white with snow. It's time for skating, skiing and making snowmen.
Wonderful is the forest in January! Pine-trees and fir-trees put on their white caps. here and there you can see the tracks of animals. Who was there? A wolf, a fox or a hare? They walk in the search of food. Bears are sleeping.

The birds that stay in the forests for the winter, fly about in search of food, too. Take some food with you for them when you go to the forest or park.
Do not forget about the birds in town, too. Make tables or feeders for them in the parks, near your school or home. Give them food! They will thank you for it in their wonderful songs in spring and in summer.

We are aware that we should take care of birds in winter.

It's the second month of the year. It's the shortest month. Winter is still with us. Children like making snowmen and playing snowballs.
February is the last winter month so the days are getting a little bit longer. So we know that soon spring will come.
February

In February pupils at Folkestone St Mary's, England, always take part in the annual RSPB 'Great School Bird Watch'. This year we had snow. We saw lots of Herring Gulls as our school is by the sea. We also saw blackbirds, chaffinches, sparrows, magpies , bluetits and pigeons.

In February, the gardens are full of dry brown leaves in our town. Moreover, we have a lot of sun even in winter.
March
It's th first spring month. It's still cold in early March but then the sun shines brighter, the days become longer and warmer. On the 21-st - 22-nd of March the days are as long as the nights. Now it's not dark when we go to school in the morning.
Im March the first birds come. They tell us, "Spring is coming! Spring is coming!"

What do children do in March?
They make houses for birds.
Spring has arrived at Loreto School Centre in Coimbra, Portugal

It's very warm and sunny in Portugal now.

April
It is the fourth month of the year. Nature awakens from its sleep in April. The birds begin to make nests and prepare to have families. Insects aso become active.
We can see that buds appear in the trees and bushes, some flowers begin to blossom. Trees and flowers make people kind and our parks, gardens and streets are so beautiful!
Help to plant trees and flowers!

In April, we can admire
the beauty of nature.
We've already started planting... And any day now we can make soup with fresh greens!

April Rain is very famous in our country. The water level of the rivers and lakes start to raise in April.
May
It's the fifth month of rhe year. It's one of the most beautiful months. The sky is blue, the sun shines brightly, the birds sing in the trees. The parks and forests are bright green. Every day the parks and the gardens look more and more charming.

In Moldova, the nickname of May is Floral, the month of flowers, guess why? In May Moldova is all in flowers and blossoms. We have a lot of legends about how the flowers appeared.
Lily of the valley
According to the legend once there were a brother and a sister very close to each other. One day the sister got ill and soon died. Brother cried a lot and his tears turned into tiny flowers all over thefields and valleys where they used to play before. These beautiful flowers were called Lilies of the valley.

Violets. One of the most beautiful Atlas' daughters was tracked by the hot rays of Apolo. She asked Zeus to protect her and he turned her into a forest flower with violet petals in heart shape.
Daffodils
Once there was the most beautiful young man and he was so vain that he fell in love with his own image transfixed, and forgetting to eat and sleep. Some of the other gods were worried that Narcissus was going to starve to death, so they turned him into a flower, which now blooms every year in spring.

The parks are full of flowers in our town in May.
Families come to the park with their children and get some fresh air.
June
It is the seventh month of the year. It opens summer. It's a very warm month. The days are long and the nights are short in June. On the 21-st-22-nd of June we have the longest day and the shortest night of the year.
June is full of different flowers - red, white, blue, yellow and orange.
The first berries - straberries apper in the gardens. They are so tasty!
Baby birds grow and learn to fly. There are lots of insects, too. Everything is gay and active in June.

July
It's the seventh month of the year and the middle of summer. So it's very hot. The sun shines brightly, the sky is clear and blue.
July gives us different berries and vegetables. It's the month of haymaking.
Schoolchildren enjoy their summer holidays. Many of them spend their time at the seaside or in the countryside.

August
It is also a summer month but the end of summer.
It's very hot early in August but the end of the month is not so hot.
We don't hear the songs of the birds but we hear the concerts of insects: grasshoppers, crickets and others.
August brings us fruit, berries, vegetables and mushrooms. It's the month of harvesting.
