List of some professions that have become extinct in Portugal

The names of some have no translation.

Ardina - newspaper seller on the street

Cattleman - public pig keeper

Aguadeiro - water distributor before tap water

Almocreve - transported goods or animals with cargo

Carpenter - hired to cry

Croceiro - made reed covers

Fabriqueiro - collector of special rents

Washerwoman - received laundry to wash in the river or in the tank

Linheiro - who prepared the linen

Varina - door to door fish seller

Many old professions were only for men, 

such as the fabriqueiro profession, 

or only for women, 

such as the washerwoman.
