Once upon a time there was a family in a village. The family had one child, Mary.  The family was unhappy because they were poor. Mary wanted to buy a dog but her parents didn’t have much money so they always said no.

One day, the family went to the park. While they were having a picnic, Mary saw a small puppy. It was small and white with black eyes and a small tail. The puppy went next to Mary. It started waving its tail because it wanted to eat. Mary gave it something to eat and it barked happily. Then, she played with the dog and she was very excited. 

Late in the afternoon, the family decided to return home. The puppy followed them all the way home. When they reached their house, Mary asked her parents to keep the puppy. Her parents said “No way. We can’t afford a puppy at our home”. Mary started crying and went to her room. The puppy stayed outside and waited.

At night, Mary went to throw the rubbish in the garbage bin and she saw the puppy hiding behind a car. Mary walked towards the puppy but, suddenly, a car appeared. The car hit Mary who fell on the ground. The puppy went next to her and started barking. Then, he ran to Mary’s house and barked really loud. Her parents came out and they followed the puppy. When they saw Mary on the ground, they ran and called an ambulance.

Fortunately, it wasn’t anything serious and Mary was alright. They returned all together to the house and Mary’s parents decided to keep the dog. Mary was very happy and they lived happily ever after.
