In a land far far away in the snowy regions of
Antarctica there was a very large Usus
maritimus, also known as a polar bear, named
Payton. Payton was in trouble because of rising
waters.

In a land far away from Payton there were
many cities filled with cars and factories that
made lots of pollution. Some of Payton's family
such as Billy the Brown Bear lived here and
told her about it

This pollution is emitting gases that is making
the world hotter. This means more of the ice in
Payton’s world is melting, causing waters to
rise.

One day Payton came home from hunting seals
and walruses, only to see that her home was
being flooded by the water. Many of her
animalia family was nowhere to be found,
mostly her chordata relatives.

Payton couldn’t find her children and had to
sleep on a very thin sheet of ice for the night.

The next morning when Payton woke up she
was surrounded by water and her ice was
nearly cracking. Using her powerful legs she
swam herself south to the colder areas of the
Antarctica.

After swimming many miles south, she found a
new glacier with many polar bears. To her
delight, she found her children.

Although Payton and her children turned out to
be okay, life wasn’t the same. The new glacier
was overcrowded with other polar bears, many
that had been forced to come there too.

Global warming has been harmful for animals
beyond just Payton and other polar bears. Humans
must reduce their impact on the earth. Simple
things like biking instead of driving, recycling
instead of throwing away, and turning off the sink
while brushing your teeth can have a huge impact.
