String art or pin and thread art, is characterized by an arrangement of colored thread strung between points to form geometric patterns or representational designs such as a ship's sails, sometimes with other artist material comprising the remainder of the work.

String art; often referred to as pin-and-thread art, string art is an addicting artform that is inviting to the most experienced crafter and the newcomer alike. Through the creation of intricate designs, crafters turn a plank of wood into a work of art.

String art is not a new fad; its origins go back to the 19th century. It is the brainchild of Mary Everest Boole who was in search of a way to introduce children to mathematical ideals. String art came back in the late 1960s as a decorative craft in the form of books and kits. Today, string art is utilized by art lovers young and old as a pastime, 

Add to that a mind full of creative ideas and you have string art! The nails are hammered into the wood board in a distinct pattern. The embroidery floss is then used to follow the pattern and bring the design to life. Its detailed nature may lead one to believe that string art is exclusive to experienced artists with extensive knowledge. This is not the case. String of the Art has made it so that everyone can make their own string art creation!

Today, string art is utilized by art lovers young and old as a pastime, DIY project, and much more.The entire concept revolves around a few simple tools and materials:
