Day of the Dead is a holiday about death. This is a sentence you have probably heard, and this is true to an extent. It is about getting together and remembering the friends and family that have died.

Because the holiday celebrates the people who have died, it should be no surprise that there are festivals, dancing, singing, and so much color.
Like Christmas, or Thanksgiving, and even Halloween, Dia de los Muertos has many traditions. One of the major traditions is setting up ofrendas where they set up a photo, or photos of the person(s) that are gone, wax candles, food, water, flowers, papel picado, and sugar skulls.

One major symbols for Day of the Dead are the sugar skulls. You probably know this holiday best because of the sugar skulls, and how could you not? When this holiday rolls around, they are not easy to miss.
