COGNITIVE:

My granddaughter is 18 months old. Her day starts with her mother dropping her off at daycare. Her name is Jiyah. Jiyah is smart for her age. Once Jiyah arrives at daycare, she knows the routine of the day.

Jiyah knows that at 8:30, it is time for breakfast. In Jiyah's class, every student has their name and picture on their own chair. Jiyah points to her chair with her picture on it. 

After breakfast, Jiyah and her classmates go to their choice of centers. Jiyah enjoys dramatic play where she  "make-believe" (Berk, 2013, chapter 6.3), pretending to feed her baby doll.

After about 15mins of play, the children in Jiyah's class can switch centers. Jiyah decides to go to art. Jiyah's teacher gives her paper and crayon for her to draw. Jiyah begins to scribble on her piece of paper; at Jiyah's age, this is what they do. As she learns to hold the crayon.

LANGUAGE:

Jiyah loves to greet her friends when they enter the classroom. She is learning to say hello and goodbye.
