There once lived a rabbit named Chester. Chester was a very friendly rabbit who had many
friends.
One day as Chester was hopping along the green field, he saw his friend Charlie the cat.
Chester decided to go and talk to Charlie. He wanted to see if Charlie wanted to go on a
walk with him.
When Chester approached Charlie, he noticed that Charlie was sad.
“What is the matter?” Chester asked Charlie.
“Hello Chester,” Charlie greeted. “Buddy the dog has taken my squeaky mouse toy again, and he won’t
give it back,” Charlie informed Chester.
“Oh no, what a terrible thing Buddy has done. Do not worry Charlie, we will go and speak to
Buddy. I am sure that Buddy is willing to give you back your toy,” Chester reassured
Charlie.
“I have already tried to talk to him. He is not willing to give it back,” Charlie said.
“Let’s just try once again, don’t worry Charlie, cheer up. I am sure that it is just a
misunderstanding,” Chester said.
The two friends began their journey to finding Buddy to get Charlie his toy back.
Along the way, Chester and Charlie came across a bird that looked like it needed some help.
“Charlie, it looks like that bird needs help getting something down from the tree. We should
go and help it,” Chester suggested.
“What a great idea Chester,” Charlie said.
The two friends approached the bird and Chester said, “Hello there, is everything okay? It
looks like you are trying to reach for something up in the tree.”
“Why yes I am. I was playing with my kite and a gust of strong wind blew it up into the tree. I
have tried many times to bring it down but I am too light and too small to carry it,” the bird
informed the two friends.
“Don’t worry my new friend, I will try to climb up the tree and help you get your kite back.
My legs are very strong and they are made for climbing and jumping,” Chester tells the
bird.
Before they knew it, Chester sprinted up the tall tree and within a couple of minutes; he
jumped down from the tree with the kite in his mouth.
“There you go birdie,” Chester said, handing the kite back to the bird.
“Wow! Thank you so much!” the bird said, with a beaming smile on its face.
The bird reached under its wing and pulled out a set of bells.
“This is for you,” the bird said, giving the bells to Chester. “I know it is not much but I have
nothing else to offer you except for these bells. Thank you once again for getting me my kite.”
“Thank you for the bell birdie. It was my pleasure to help you,” Chester said.
Chester and Charlie said good-bye to their new friend and continued their journey to finding
Buddy.
After walking for a long time, Chester and Charlie decided to rest for a bit under a big tree
that provided a lot of shade.
The two friends began to doze off, however they heard a squeaking noise that stopped them
from sleeping.
“What is that noise?” Chester asked.
“It is my mouse toy!” Charlie exclaimed. “I can recognize that sound anywhere! Buddy must
be near us.”
The two friends got up and searched high and low for Buddy.
Chester noticed that there were paw prints on the ground and followed it, hoping that it will
lead him to Buddy.
