Hi!  Welcome to Egypt!  Come take a walk with us to find some amazing animals from Egypt.

The camel is the most well-known animal in Egypt.  It can live 40-50 years.  They can go for ten days without drinking. They eat desert plants. The ones with one hump are called a Dromedary. It is the only kind of camel in Africa.

Let's ride it.

They are good swimmers.

The largest freshwater turtle is a soft-shelled turtle. It lives along the Nile River.  Its shell is very soft.  It also lives in North America and Asia.  They are fast swimmers.  It is one of the largest freshwater animals.  It eats plants and fish. Humans eat them and their eggs.  These turtles are endangered.

     The sand cats are very cool, elusive animals.  They have insulated fur to keep them warm at night and cool during the day.  Fur is on the bottom of their paws to keep them from burning on the hot sand. It also keeps them from hardly making tracks in the sand so predators can't find them.  Because of their big ears, they can hear a bug crawling up to half a kilometer away. These are a few things I learned about sand cats.

I want to pet it.

The long-eared hedgehogs live in Egypt.  They use their long ears to cool themselves. It likes to burrow in the sand.  It likes to eat bugs and plants.  I like that it is very funny when it burrows.
