Juan is feeling a little nervous on his first day of kindergarten. While getting ready for school, his mom tells him it will be fun.  But Juan isn't so sure.  His tummy feels a little jumbly, and he just wants to stay home with Coco, his dog.  

Juan's mom walks him to his classroom, and tells him goodbye.  Katie, one of Juan's new classmates walks up to Juan.  "Don't worry," she says, "my sister was in kindergarten last year.  She said it was lots of fun and our parents will come back to get us after snack!" 

What kind of stuff will we do? 

Well, we will learn how to count... and how to write our numbers, letters, and words!"

I can count to 10!

I love art! Maybe this won't be so bad!

Kate was right.  Juan practiced writing his name and making shapes.  He counted sea shells in math, and drew a portrait of himself in art.
