Nelly Noun loved strawberries. She wanted to write a 

sentence about her strawberry, but she didn't know 

what to say about it. So far, all she had was the word 

strawberry. She decided to ask her friends for help.

The first person she went to was her friend Vicki 

Verb. Vicki was very active and was always on the go. 

Nelly asked Vicki about action words to go with her 

noun, strawberry. Vicki told Nelly that there were lots 

of things that she could do with a strawberry. She 

could throw it, she could pick it up, she could taste it, 

or she could eat it. Nelly decided that she would write 

a sentence about eating her strawberry. 

Nelly was happy that she asked Vicki for help. She 

knew that she wanted to write about eating the 

strawberry, but she still wanted to add more detail.

 She went to her friend Addy Adjective because Addy 

was great at finding words to describe things. Addy 

thought for a minute and then told Nelly that she could 

eat a red strawberry, she could eat a delicious 

strawberry, she could eat a sweet strawberry, or she 

could eat a ripe strawberry. Nelly decided that she 

wanted to write about eating a delicious strawberry.
