A Brief of Greek history
The Greek story is old and glorious, known almost worldwide after the Greek culture and Greek spirit examined by schools and universities worldwide.
The fact is that Greece gave the lights of culture in several Nations around the world and that is revealed by the show signs that saved monuments and until today or by the cultural influences that still exist. This was a result of the spread and colonization of the Greeks in various parts of the world but mainly in countries around the Mediterranean, as a result of trade and shipping which involved.
In 3000 BC new races invading Greek territory and develops valuable culture (the Aegean civilization). In 2000 BC first Greek tribes were appeared.
First the Ionians and 200 years after the Achaeans and Aeolians.

Τhe position of Greece within the world history is important because the ancient Greek spirit nourished and educated the whole civilized world with the ideas and lessons.
Is the country where the idea of democracy and of the Olympic Games was born, which first took place in ancient Olympia in 776 BC.
Greece is the hometown of heroes, glorious politicians and generals and reputable people of letters and arts. It is the birthplace of remarkable speech makers, significant philosophers, scientists and inventors.
Of course, the country's history is not written in a few pages nor ends here. New pages will be added continuously and there are a lot of Greeks who excel in the fields of science and letters, but also in other areas both in Greece and internationally.

A breif of Greek geography
Greece is one of the European countries. Is a peninsula and it is laved east from Aegean Sea, west from Ionian Sea, south from Mediterranean Sea and north from Albania, F.Y.R.O.M, Bulgaria and Turkey. It’s lengthen is 131.986 square kilometers and from which, 106.778 are continental section and the rest of them are insular section. Its population is about 11.153.880 inhabitants according to the last census in 2001. The capital of Greece is Athens and the second largest city is Thessaloniki.
The official language of the state is Greek and the majority of the population is Greek and Christian Orthodox in the religion. The Greeks are welcoming people famous for their insight. The most representative products of our country is Greek “feta” (a kind of white cheese), tzatziki, brandy Metaxas, ouzo, good wine,mousaka,souvlaki, and sirtaki ( Greek dance).

Geographic information
Greece is generally mountainous country and is considered one of the most mountainous countries but in essence, the whole country is a large peninsula and has a rich dismemberment.
High or low mountains across the whole country, from the west is the mountain range of Pintos, which is the continuity of Deinarikon Alpine, from the North is the Rhodope Mountains, and the tallest mountain in the east of the country the mountain Olympus with a height of 2.917m (domicile of 12 Gods of ancient Greek mythology). Among the mountains seem to be waiting beautiful valleys such as the Valley of Tempe and fertile plains such as Thessaly, Arta, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and Thessaloniki.

Greek Gastronomy
One of the authentic cultural elements of a place is gastronomy. The peculiarities of the taste of the cuisine of an area are often connected with the quality characteristics of its society, while "revealing" elements of its cultural and economic history. At the same time, taste seems to be a way of communication.Unique way to "speak" in the heart of another.
Greek gastronomy has a history of about 4,000 years, with special characteristics based on the pure and unique quality products of the Greek land. To be precise, Arhestratos was the one who in 330 BC. wrote the first cookbook in history.
In the Greek nutritional tradition, the tasty result is harmoniously combined with the high nutritional value. Dozens of scientific studies have proven the positive effect of a balanced Greek diet on health, beauty and longevity. Greek philosophy about life!

Traditional Greek recipes
The most characteristic and integral element of Greek cuisine is olive oil, where it is often used in most dishes. It is produced from the fruits of olive trees and olives and is a characteristic taste of the Greek diet. Important vegetables are tomatoes, eggplants, potatoes, beans, okra, peppers and onions. Honey in Greece is produced mainly from the nectar of fruit, citrus and coniferous trees. There is also Mastic which is an aromatic natural resin extracted from the mastic tree that is grown only on the island of Chios.
Greek cuisine uses some aromas more often than other Mediterranean cuisines, namely: oregano, mint, garlic, onion, parsley, dill and bay leaves. Other common herbs and spices such as basil, thyme and fennel. In many Greek recipes, sweet-spices are used in combination with meat, such as cinnamon and cloves.

Famous wine varieties in Greece
According to ancient Greek mythology the God of wine was Dionyssos.
Many of the Greek wines are PDO ("Protected Designation of Origin"), such as Zitsa, Mantineia, Mavrodafni of Kefalonia and Patras, Santorini, Monemvasia-Malvasia, Moschatos of Lemnos, Naoussa, Nemea, Paros, Rapsani, Rapsani and Rapsani.
There are lot of famous wines from vines in volcanic soils, while all over northern Greece you will be surprised by the red wines you will tasteThe wines of Drama, Imathia, Kilkis, Florina , and Rodopi are just as enjoyable.
In the Peloponnese taste the strong Nemea, in Epirus the playful and naturally foaming debina, in the islands the glowing assyrtiko, the sweet and warm muscat from Lemnos and Samos, which are ideal aperitifs.

From the whites, recognize the golden and green highlights of atheri, moschofilero, savatiano and rhodite.
Do not forget to enjoy the refreshing retsina ("Wine with a traditional name"), from the Mediterranean of Attica, Boeotia or Evia. It is the most famous traditional Greek wine with the characteristic aroma and taste produced from savvatiano or rhodite with the addition of the vegetable resin of the pine and accompanies excellently more classic Greek dishes.

Greek ouzo and tsipouro
The traditional drink of Greece
The production of tsipouro probably began in the 14th century on Mount Athos by monks who lived there. Over the years it spread to various areas of Greece, mainly in Macedonia, Epirus, Thessaly and Crete.
Tsipouro is prepared by distilling grapes and it is very strong drink.More light is Greek ouzo ,similar in taste to tsipouro and very popular to every corner of Greece too,special in Greek islands .
It is served in small glasses and is sometimes consumed plain, but usually accompanied by appetizers. Pastourmas, pastas and olives are considered fine appetizers for tsipouro. Water or ice is often added to the drink.
In some monasteries of Mount Athos, the monks welcome visitors with tsipouro. and a Turkish delight, the combination of which relaxes and offers energy.



Although tsipouro has always been a "home" drink, in recent years it has been a type of widespread consumption in taverns and the well-known tsipouro restaurants in many -mainly coastal- areas of Greece, which offer tsipouro or ouzo accompanied by a wide variety of appetizers and usally these appetizers are see food, as octopus, mussels, shrimp, squid, fish cooked in different ways and of course Greek salad.
