Our adventure starts in the village of Postwick, where you live in a house with your mom. Your best friend, Hop, comes in and tells you that, soon, his big brother Leon will be home. Leon is the Champion of the Galar region, and the most famous person in the land! 

But Hop is ready to become the new Champion. After you do good battling Pokemon, Leon says you are “OK!”. Now you can enter the Gym Challenge and battle eight strong Gym leaders.

You notice that a gate to the Slumbering Weald has been left open. Suddenly, you see a strange, wolf-like Pokemon that you've never seen before. You cannot catch it. Is this thing made of smoke? The creature disappears.

Back in the lab … Thanks to Magnolia's research, trainers are able to harness Galar's Dynamax energy and make their Pokemon huge with the power of wishing stars.

You and Hop decide to go to the Gym Battle on foot. You enter “The Wild Area” which is filled with a wide variety of Pokemon. BUT . . . some of those Pokemon are very powerful and VERY dangerous for a young trainer. Finally, you guys make it to the Gym challenge and meet other trainers there. 

You see Sonia looking at a statue of a legendary hero. This hero, she tells you, defeated the bad people of Galar with his sword and shield. Sonia is studying these old legends to see what they might have to do with Dynamaxing.

Your first two Gym Challenges! First you fight Milo, the Grass-type leader. Then, you take on Water-type leader Nessa.

But Bede beats Hop in a challenge! Bede first is a psychic type, but later changes to a fairy type.
