


On June 1, 1926, Norma Jeane Mortenson, who years later would be known as Marilyn Monroe, was born in California, and 90 years later there is no doubt that she is considered one of Hollywood's most iconic stars.
Was an American actress, model, and singer. Famous for playing "dumb blonde" comedic characters, she became one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s and early 1960s and was emblematic of the sexual revolution of the time. She was a renowned actress for only a decade, but her films grossed $200 million.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Monroe spent most of her childhood in foster care and an orphanage and married at age 16. She was working in a factory during World War II when she met a photographer from the First Motion Picture Unit and began a successful pin-up modeling career, which led to short-lived film contracts with 20th Century Fox and Columbia Pictures that began her hollywood career under the stage name Marilyn Monroe.
In 1953, Monroe was one of Hollywood's most marketable stars; she had lead roles in the black film, Niagara, which focused on her sex appeal, and in the comedies Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and How to Marry a Millionaire, which established her star image as a "dumb blonde". The same year, his nude images were used as the central page and on the cover of the first issue of Playboy.
When the studio was still reluctant to change Monroe's contract, he founded his own film production company, Marilyn Monroe Productions in collaboration with photographer Milton Greene in 1954.8 He spent 1955 building the company and began studying the method of acting with Lee Strasberg at the Actor's Studio. Later that year, Fox awarded him a new contract, which gave him more control and a higher salary.

When the studio was still reluctant to change Monroe's contract, he founded his own film production company, Marilyn Monroe Productions in collaboration with photographer Milton Greene in 1954.

Monroe's tumultuous private life received much attention. He battled addiction and mood disorders. Her first husband was James Dougherty. Her marriages to retired baseball star Joe DiMaggio and playwright Arthur Miller were highly publicized and both ended in divorce. They also attributed to him romantic relationships with brothers Robert Francis Kennedy and John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
