World Cultures Assignment, Making A Childrens Book

What Is Shintoism?
Shintoism is the most practiced religion
originating in Japan.
What you just passed through was a Torii Gate, in Shintoism it is used to represent a gate between the psychical world and the infinite plane of that of the celestial realm
Shintoism has no certain founder nor sacred scriptures.
You may think, if they don't have a written scripture then how do they know how to pray or what to value.
It's quite simple actually, although it's not written down in a book, it engraved into their lifestyle. It's common to find Torii Gates throughout the country. These mean that when you pass through the gates you are in a spirit's home and you should be respectful and kind. These spirits occur in their shrines built for them and respond to sincere praying, they are called Kami's.
