EGEAN Region FOLK CLOTHES Turkiye
Turkey is a country with old clothing traditions. Their roots are in the Ottoman Empire which has formed Turkish cultural and traditional heritage pretty much. Even hundreds of years after the Ottoman Empire, Turkish national costume has a lot of features typical for those days. But today few people in Turkey wear traditional clothing in day-to-day life. Men usually use European style of clothes or mix some elements of the folk dress with western pieces of attire. Women wear national costumes more often,

It also has different names depending on its shape and area, so it can be "catrință", "vâlnic", "fotă", "opreg". These pieces are woven from wool, with simpler or more complicated ornamentation depending on the outfit. The popular port of Transylvania
The Romanian folk costume fulfills characteristics similar to that of the peoples of the Balkan Peninsula, the differences being those of decorative and colorful details. Over the years, the structure and components of the Romanian folk costume have kept their essential characteristics unchanged. The making of the Romanian folk costume started from raw materials produced in the peasants' households but evolved over time. The folk costume has the same structure throughout the country but differs from one region to another in details such as cut, shape.

Moldavian Folk Costumes
Moldova is the area that has preserved the most archaic influences, and this is felt in the folk costume. Moldovian ,,ia'' is wrinkled and adorned with a multitude of embroidered patterns, the most commonly used colors being white, red, green and black.
Catrinta often has floral prints and is always dark in color. To support them, a woven belt is used, with a width of up to 12 cm.
Also, the Moldovian folk costume is composed of an illic or a vest made of sheepskin or wool, on the surface of which are woven different ornamental motifs: straight or broken lines, solar or floral motifs (the most common are the bud and the pansy, but also the branch with leaves, which symbolizes the Tree of Life).

The symbols found on Romanian folk costumes
Folk costumes represent the entire cultural heritage of the Romanian peasant. It is a unitary whole of legends, stories, fairy tales, fables, colors, deep meanings and hidden symbolism. It is about care and fascination, originality and preservation of tradition. They say a lot about the geographical area, the history, the tradition of each group.
These symbols were magical for our ancestors, or they were lucky, being used not only in clothing (ie, fur, chest, shirt, strings) and ornaments (cloth, headscarf, handkerchief), but also on common household items. .
The motifs vary greatly from flowers, leaves, fruits to birds, animals, geometric and abstract figures, cosmic elements.
Cosmic symbols speak of the connection with the sacred. They are usually ancestral symbols of divinity. The solar symbol represents the heat, the energy of life, and the circle-wheel represents the wheel of life, the cycle of the seasons.
