Mapping Food In Our Neighborhood

Chapter 1:

In my neighborhood, unhealthy foods are more accessible than healthy food. Still, stores like Whole Foods sell organic and healthy foods such as produce and poultry. Stores like CVS sell foods that are unhealthy, like chips and candy.

Cost Analysis

                Chapter 2:

    Located near Lawrence Estates,  are a large range of healthy and unhealthy foods products. Unhealthy foods often cost less, whereas healthy foods often cost more. Healthy foods are often found in Wegmans and Whole Foods, unhealthy foods are more common around town. 

    Looking at the graph, you can see that most healthy foods such as fruits are more expensive than most unhealthy foods. This limits the accessibility to families of lower income. Restaurants are also becoming more expensive. Looking at the Loin steak you can see that its price is much higher than any other food, this is mostly because it comes from a restaurant. Due to the pandemic restaurants in Medford and all over the U.S are struggling to stay open forcing them to have such large prices. All of these prices are relative to serving size as well, looking at the Small Pizza it’s pricy but feeds about 2 people versus bagels and gummies are cheaper, bagels only feed 1 person and gummies are a snack.
