Isaac Newton invented the laws of
gravitation and the laws of motion. He
also established a new filed in
mathematics known as calculus. His
work has greatly contributed in the
areas of science and mathematics
making him one of the most influential
scientists in the human history.

Isaac Newton is best known for his
theory of universal gravitation, his Laws
of Motion, as well as groundbreaking
discoveries in mathematics, physics and
astronomy.

Born: January 4, 1643
Birthplace: Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire,
England
Died: March 20, 1727
Sir Isaac Newton was an English
mathematician, astronomer, theologian
and alchemist considered by many to be
the most influential scientist that ever
lived.

Newton built the first practical reflecting
telescope and developed a theory of
colour based on the observation that a
prism decomposes white light into the
many colours of the visible spectrum.
He also formulated an empirical law of
cooling and studied the speed of sound.
In addition to his work on the calculus,
as a mathematician Newton contributed
to the study of power series,
generalised the binomial theorem to
non-integer

exponents, and developed Newton's
method for approximating the roots
of a function.
