SHAKI KHAN'S PALACE

''If there were no other ancient buildings in Azerbaijan, it would be enough to show the world only the Sheki Khan Palace''    NAZIM HIKMET

The Palace of Shaki Khans in Shaki,Azerbaijan was a summer residence for the Shaki Khans. It was built in 1797 by Muhammed Hasan Khan. On 7 july 2019,the Historic Centre of Sheki with the Khan's Palace was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The palace was intended to house the Khans who were in charge of controlling Sheki. The Palace of Shaki Khans was nominated for list of World Heitage Sites,UNESCO in 1998 by Gulnar Mehmandarova- president of Azerbaijan Committee of ICOMOS- International Council on Monuments and Sites

SHEKI KHAN PALACE THROUGH THE EYES OF FOREIGN TOURSTS.

What was the Tower in the ancient times, it is not clear till present day. There aer three versions put forward: a temple,observatory and defensive structures. Each version finds its supporters, but Baku people just love it for what it is- with its majesty and charm.

The Palace of the Shirvanshahs is a 15th-century palace built by the Shirvanshahs and described by UNESCO  as ''one of the pearls of Azerbaijan's architecture''. It's located in yhe Inner City of Baku ,Azerbaijan and together with the Maiden Tower, forms an ensemble of historic monuments inscribed  under the UNESCO World Heritage List of Historical  Monument.The complex contains the main building of the palace,Divanhane,the burial-vaults,the shah's mosque witha minaret,Seyid Yahya Bakuvi's mausoleum ( the so-called ''mausoleum of the dervish''), south of the palace , a portal in the east, Murad's gate, a reservoir and the remnants of a bath house.

Earlier, there was an ancient mosque ,next to the mausoleum. There are still ruins of the bath to the west of the tomb.
