Authoritarian parenting styles are a style of parenting where the child has no input and parents have complete say over the child’s decisions. Authoritative Parenting Style:
This parenting style consists of parents who are nurturing, but set firm boundaries and limits. The child has input of their own opinion, but the parents always have the final say. Parents generally explain rules and reasonings for why the rules are in place. This parenting style has fair and consistent discipline. Parents listen to children and discuss options with them. They set expectations for behavior and provide clear limits.

Children who have authoritative parents often have a well-developed sense of self-esteem and confidence in decision-making, because they have been allowed to practice those skills with support. They tend to be self-reliant and ambitious.
Permissive Parenting Style:
In this parenting style the child has the final say. If the parent does not like the decisions the child is making, they will express frustration and make an attempt to correct the behavior without giving punishments. If their attempts are unsuccessful, they will give up and allow the child to deal with the consequences of his or her choices.
Permissive parents are nurturing and caring. They ask children for their opinions and listen. They have very few, inconsistent rules with an emphasis on freedom and choices. They have little structure or consequences for behavior and are often seen as a friend.
