Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Suzy. Suzy loved Halloween. It was her favorite holiday of the year.

Every year, she would dress up and go trick-or-treating with her friends named Sam and Alex. This year, Suzy dressed up as a witch, Sam as a vampire, and Alex as Frankenstein.

This year was going to be extra spooky because Suzy, Sam, and Alex were going to a haunted house. They were finally old enough to go! Though they were a little nervous, Suzy reassured her friends “It’ll be fine, guys! After all, we’re in the 4 grade now”.

It was the morning of Halloween. Suzy excitedly hopped out of bed and put on her witch costume. She waited with anticipation all day until it began to get dark. She called Sam. “Meet at my house? Tell Alex too”. She could not wait. The kids met up and made their way to the haunted house.

“We made it!” Suzy exclaimed. All the older kids were lined up at the door making their way through. As they waited the kids grew more and more nervous.

Suddenly, a puppy ran up to the kids. They looked all around for its owner with no luck. "Come on guys. Let's take this puppy around the neighborhoods to see if it belongs to anybody" Suzy said. "Good idea," chimed in Alex.

I can't believe this dog doesn't belong to anyone in the neighborhood. Maybe we should take him home!

How was the haunted house, kids?

"Oh no! I completely forgot!" said Suzy. "This was supposed to be the spookiest Halloween ever"

"What a perfect name!" said Sam. "What is?" Alex asked. "Spooky! Let's keep the puppy and name him Spooky!" said Sam. "That's alright with me" Suzy's mom agreed.

The kids laughed and played with the puppy until they forgot they ever wanted to go to the haunted house. "This is the best day ever!" said Suzy. "We ended up having a pretty Spooky Halloween after all." The kids all laughed.
