Once upon a time, there was a
little old woman and a little old
man who lived in a little cottage
near the river . The little old
woman and the little old man
were hungry, so the little old
woman decided to bake a
gingerbread man .

She made a big batch of
gingerbread dough, then rolled it
flat and cut it in the shape of a
gingerbread man . She gave him
currents for eyes and cherries for
buttons. Then she put the
gingerbread in the oven to bake.

When the gingerbread man was done
baking, the little old woman opened the
oven door, but before she could take
him out, the gingerbread man jumped
up and ran through the kitchen and out
of the cottage shouting, "Don't eat me!"

The little old woman and the little old
man ran after the gingerbread man.
"Stop, I want to eat you!" she yelled.
But the gingerbread man ran even
faster, chanting, "Run, run as fast as
you can. You can't catch me, I'm the
gingerbread man."

Down the lane he sped when he came
across a pig. "Stop! Stop! I would like to
eat you!" shouted the pig. But the
gingerbread man was too fast. He ran
on saying, "Run, run as fast as you can!
You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread
Man!"

A little further down the lane, the
gingerbread man came across a hungry
cow. "Stop! Stop! I would like to eat
you!" shouted the cow. So she joined in
on the chase. But the gingerbread man
was too fast. He ran on saying, "Run,
run as fast as you can! You can't catch
me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!"

It was not long before the gingerbread
man came across a horse. "Stop,
Stop!" shouted the horse. "I want to eat
you, little man!" But the gingerbread
man did not stop. He ran on saying,
"Run! Run, as fast as you can! You can't
catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!"
