Kobe Bryant was a professional basketball player drafted in 1996 by the Los Angeles Lakers. He got drafted out of high school and went to Lower Merion High School. Kobe and his daughter Gigi Bryant sadly passed away on January 26, 2020 in a helicopter crash.

Jackie Robinson was the first African-American baseball player in the major baseball leagues. He started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947. He was born January 31, 1919. Robinson's older brother was a silver medalist at the Olympics. Jackie didn't play baseball between age 21 and 26.

Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama is an American attorney and author who served as the first lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017. She was the first African-American woman to serve in this position. She is the wife of former President Barack Obama.

Earl Francis Lloyd was an American professional basketball player and coach. He was the first African American player to play a game in the National Basketball Association. An All–American player at West Virginia State University, Lloyd helped lead West Virginia State to an undefeated season in 1948.

In 1920, Fritz Pollard became the first African-American to play in the NFL during its formative years. However, in the years after Fritz's departure, the NFL owners imposed a “gentleman's agreement” preventing the signing of more black players. Eventually, re-integration in the NFL happened in 1946.

George Washington Carver was an American agricultural scientist and inventor who promoted alternative crops to cotton and methods to prevent soil depletion. He was the most prominent black scientist of the early 20th century.

Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesman and leader in the civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968.
