best friend Jimmy got sick. On accident, Jimmy sneezed onto Billy! This caused Billy to get sick
also. This is because in the sneeze there are small particles called viruses or anitgens that can
get into the body. When the viruses get past the skin the body has somethings called
non-specific defenses that make the body a bad place for the virus to live. Some examples,
are nose hairs. They filter they air so no particles get through. Another is skin, it makes a wall
between the inside of a body and the icky viruses on the outside. Another is inflammation this
is when spots on you body swell and turn red. Also Billy has mucus, it is gooey and makes
the viruses stick to it. Also, mucus can kill bacteria! When non-specific defense doesn't work
there are somethings called specific defenses.

Luckily, Billy had a tiny friend on the inside of his body. His name was Timmy and he
was a T-Cell (Yellow and Red). Timmy had a friend named Benny the B-Cell (black).
Timmy and Benny were playing in the lymph stream one day when all of a sudden they
saw an icky virus particle (green)! Benny jumped into action and ate the virus particle! This
is called phagocytosis when one cell eats another cell. Then as the virus particle broke into
pieces Timmy latched onto one. Timmie's job as a T-cell was to tell all of Bennie's B-cell
friends to multiply.
