One cold December night just outside Greece 

Marck and Bart sat around a smoldering fire for 

warmth. Marck was head of the agriculture in 

their village and was very wise. Bart worked in 

the market and had known Marck since he was 

a child.

As the fire began to dim Bart had an idea! You 

know what we need said Bart, What? Marck 

said. We need a new fuel source something 

better than this lowly old wood that we’re 

running out of. I’ll go find something Bart said. 

Good luck said Marck, as time went on there 

was no sign of Bart. Then days later Bart 

returned to the village he told of a black rock 

that was in the mines and it burned much 

longer than wood!
