Iris just moved to Texas with her mom from California. She is new, so she doesn't have many friends at school.
Iris has a doll she loves playing with named Polly. Polly makes Iris happy and reminds her of her old home.
Iris always brings Polly to school to play with her on the playground. She also sleeps, eats, and goes everywhere with her.
One day, Polly falls out of Iris’s backpack when leaving school. When Iris gets home, she notices that Polly is missing.
Iris tells her mom and they look everywhere for Polly, but they don’t find her.
The next day at school, Iris sees a girl playing with Polly. Iris angrily walks up to the girl. “Where did you get that doll?," Iris asks.
“Oh, I found it yesterday on the floor,” the girl says. “But that’s my doll!,” Iris screams as she takes Polly out of the girl’s hands.
“I’m sorry!,” the girl yells back as Iris runs away to a different part of the playground.
When she gets picked up from school that day, her mom notices Polly has been found. “Where did you find it?,” her mom asks. “A girl found it,” Iris says.
