Once upon a time on Diamond Ring Island there was a red egg. The egg belonged to a mommy dragon. The mommy breathed on the egg to keep it warm and help it hatch. After a month the egg split open and out came a baby dragon. The baby dragon was red. The mommy was pleased to have a baby, because she had been waiting so long to have a child. The mommy named her baby Vulcan.

When Vulcan turned seven, he started to go to school at Dragon School. Vulcan LOVED school! He loved snack time, he loved recess. He especially loved lunchtime because his mom would pack his favorite lunch, chicken noodle soup with carrots on the side.

But one Thursday, when Vulcan went to his cubby to get his lunch it was missing! He was shocked and so was his best friend, Shu. Shu and Vulcan told their teacher, Mr. Wing, that their lunches were missing. They asked Mr. Wing if they could search the whole school to find their lunches. Mr. Wing said, "Yes, but only until the end of lunchtime to try and find them."

So they set off to find their lunches. They made a map of the school and grabbed a net just in case, because Shu said they were great for catching things. Then they began to search the playground. On one of the swings they found some ranch from Vulcans lunch next to a fallen feather. It was red and had some burned ashes and was tipped in gold, which could only mean one thing. Flame the class pet, a smoldash, had gotten out again!

They flew back to the classroom quickly and looked into Flame's cage. In the cage they found chicken nugget crumbs. Shu exclaimed, "Hey! Those are my chicken nuggets!" Then they noticed there was a trail of crumbs leaving the cage and heading into the hallway.

They flew this way and that way down the hall, until it forked. At the fork Shu saw a chicken noodle soup puddle and crumbs in the puddles!

They continued to follow the crumb trail down the hall into the art room. Where they saw the mess. There was paint all over the place and another feather covered in blue and green paint. Flame was loosing his Feathers fast!

They knew that if he kept loosing feathers, he wouldn't be able to fly until new ones grew in. So, they flew as fast as they could back into the hallway, but at the end of the hallway right in front of the music door, they saw flame with only one feather left in his tail!
