I dedicate this book to my siblings

Once upon a time, in a world not so different from our own, there lived three little pigs. They were still living in their mother’s apartment, and hadn’t seen much of the world. Unfortunately for the three pigs, it was fall, almost winter, and their mother didn’t want to pay rent for four pigs through the whole winter. So, she packed up three suitcases, and told them to go find their own place in the world.

“But Mooooooom!” exclaimed the first little pig “It's like . . . WINTER!” “and I just bought new clothes” agreed the second little pig, the third little pig sighed “I knew it wasn't going to be a surprise vacation”. Their mother just replied “It's time for little pigs to fly.” Then she closed the door in their faces, leaving them alone on the doorstep.

After the shock of being kicked out had subsided, the three pigs had a serious conversation. “What do we do now?” complained the second little pig. The third little pig replied “We build our own houses I guess” the second pig cried in distress “Ohh no! I couldn’t! I might chip a nail!” The first pig agreed “that sounds expensive” the third pig frowned “whatever. If you need me, I’ll be at Lowes.” Despite the complaining, all three pigs ended up going to Lowes. They were quite a sight on the way, dragging heavy suitcases and (in the second pig’s case) several shopping bags.

When they reached the store, they set down all their things and paraded inside. The first pig browsed the isles muttering and shaking his head, “Too expensive. Definitely not! What am I? Made of money?” He finally settled on some cork board and duck tape. When the cashier saw his purchases, she nodded approvingly “Oh yes. Very good for making bulletin boards. Great choice!”

The second pig had maxed out her credit card, so she couldn’t afford very much. She was only able to get drywall, a small tube of Gorilla Glue, and some bright pink paint. When the cashier saw her items she smiled, “That’ll fix the hole in your wall right up!”

After talking to a store employee, the third pig decided on concrete, plywood, drywall, nails and the weird pink insulation that goes between the walls. When the cashier saw his cart, she was very impressed, “Your house is going to be very sturdy!”
