These ethics are a standard playbook for behavior and problem-solving ethical dilemmas in the Early Childhood Education setting (NAEYC, 2011).
NAEYC Ethics

Core Values
Appreciate the valuable stage of childhood and the child-family bond
Base work off on the development and learning of a child
Their support is with family, culture, community, and society
Respect and recognize that each individual is unique and diverse
Trust and respect allow children and adults to see their full potential
(NAEYC, 2011).

Responsibilities to the Children
Be consistent with your growth in childhood care and education
Appreciate a child's dependence on you
Create a safe and healthy environment for children's mental, physical, and emotional health
Use assessment knowledge to support a child's development
All children should be treated equally and have access to support services
Culture, family, ethnicity, & language are important
Cooperate with families as them and their child tackle future programs

No harm will come to a child; we must protect them
We will not discriminate based on sex, race, nationality, religion, medical condition, disability, or status
Communication is key
There are always two sides to the story or assessment
We shall make sure every child is getting the best education out there and provide assistance or additional service to them
All should know the risk factors and symptoms of abuse
If one wishes to report, you will assist them in that report
The Principles

Responsibility to the Families
Stay informed on the knowledge to communicate with families
Develop trusting relationships with family members
Encourage participation of the families
Listen and learn from families strengths as they support their child
Respect the preferences and values of every family
Meeting with parents about how to improve their child's development at home is essential
Help families build networks with the program and staff

The Principles
Unless by court order, a family member must not be denied to enter the classroom
Inform families when they will be involved (during significant decisions)
Communicate with families in a language they understand
Ensure the families input is essential and take it into account
Assessments are confidential
Families should be informed of any research or project and get consent
