Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia.

In his youth, Martin began to face discrimination just for his skin color.

Martin attended Boston University to join the ministry and become a pastor just like his father.

While attending college in Boston, King met Coretta Scott, who would later become his wife. He then had four children.

In 1955, he decided to contend against the city's public bus system with Rosa Parks. King became leader of the Montgomery Improvement Association.

In 1963, Martin Luther King delivered the "I have a dream" speech, which helped further the movement's success.
Through a long journey of facing discrimination, jail time, and threats toward his family, King was able to have a strong influence in the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which enforced desegregation.
