Energy must come from a source

An energy source provides energy to the electrical system. Can you think of any examples of an energy source?

Some of the most common sources of energy come from sun, wind, water, geothermal, fossil fuel, and nuclear fuel.

Today, we will be focusing on the two energy sources, wind and water.

Wind and water are a source of motion energy.
Wind uses motion energy to spin the wind turbine. When the wind turbine spins, the generator converts the motion energy into electrical energy.
Water uses motion energy to go through the dam. When the water goes through the hydroelectric power plant, the generator converts the motion energy into electrical energy.

From the generator, the electrical energy is transferred through wire to other output energy sources.
