Annie is a small, black ant, but she is strong and
ready for adventure. On the day of her birthday she
found a slice of pizza sitting right on the curb by a
trash can. Annie was on the way home, but was lucky
enough to find this pizza. She decided she wanted it
all for herself and must find somewhere to hide it.
Annie hurried to the pizza as fast as she could before
anyone else had the chance to claim it.
She knew that she had to head on a journey all on her
own, just to make sure no one would take a bite.

Annie decided to take a short walk to the beach from the city
and find a great place to hide the pizza. She knew no one would
be able to find it there.
As Annie found the perfect spot under an umbrella, she knew it
would stay cool under the shade it provided. The cool breezy air
will keep it fresh and it will be there when she comes back later
when she is hungry.
Annie then saw there were some very, very hungry seagulls
looking at her slice of pizza. "Oh no," yelled Annie, " I must take
my pizza away or else those seagulls will claim my prize".
Annie then became nervous and needed to find a new place to
hide her pizza.

Annie searched high and low to find the right
place for her pizza. "At last," thought Annie "I
can hide the pizza in the house across my ant
home."
"No one will suspect a thing there," Annie said.
As she made her way into the house from the
beach. Annie climbed up the cabinets and
placed the pizza on top of the fridge. Annie felt
very accomplished and would soon return for
her pizza when she gets hungry.

As Annie was heading for the door, in came
Emma and her father Jack. Emma had just
finished her ballet practice and was very hungry.
She told her dad, "Dad, I want pizza, I want
pizza now, please." Jack didn't reply because he
knew there wasn't any in the house. "Let's see
what we can find in the fridge," said Jack.
Before Emma and Jack could even spot the pizza
slice, Annie climbed back up the fridge and
headed for the door to find a new safe place.

Annie lost track of time and it was starting to get dark
outside. Annie was scared, and didn't know where she
was. She could hear other creatures like bats, owls, and
moths coming out for the night. She was worried she
would never make it home.
"Which way is home?", questioned Annie, but no one
was near to reply.
As she reached the end of the road she didn't know if
she should head left or right. She was too small to read
the signs.
Annie regretted not going home during the day since it is
her birthday and she is now all alone. Just as Annie was
going to lose hope she saw a hole on a tree and she
suddenly remembered she passed this tree on her way
to the city this morning.
