Empress Theodora
Theodora was born into deep poverty. She married her husband Justinian 1 in 525.
Together they ruled Constantinople unofficially as joint monarchs, allowing Theodora
to share the throne & take active part in decision making. Empress Theodora worked
hard for women's rights. She later died on June 28, 548. 3
Emperor JustinianJustinian was a high-ranking Byzantine noblemanwho took control of the Eastern Empire by succeeding
his uncle to the throne. Justinian's three ambitious goals
were to reconquer the lands to the west,simplify Roman
laws & start massive building programs.

Byzantine InfluenceRussia was influenced by their writing systemwhich was cyrillic. Cyrillic was a script that
was derived from Greek script. According to
tradition, tenth century Greek missionaries
brought Christianity to the Slavic peoples of
Europe.

The East-West Schism
long-standing differences between western and eastern 
christians finally caused a definitive break, and roman
catholics and eastern orthodox still remain seperate 
the ending of the persecution of christians was stopped byconstantine the great and licinus and was caused by the rapid
spread of christianity. christianity was made the official religion
of the roman empire by saint ambrose and emperor theodosius
in the year of 380 AD.

The Hagia Sophia 
the purpose of the hagia sophia is a islam place ofworship. its constructed to for muslims to walk around
and worship properly and its name means holy wisdom
which is why its in a domed structure. it was built by
justinian the first in the year of 537AD. there were many
volatile dispuits that taken place over the structure and
purpose of this beautiful place.

Decline of Byzantine Empire
The empire begin to decline becauseof money and invaders of other nearby poor
countries. it was caused by severe economic
problems and the splitting of the church; both eastern
orthodox and western churches. also numerous civil wars
had taken place as well weak mititary forces!!!!!!
