Every Thanksgiving, we eat turkeys.

In 1965, some kids didn't like that the Turkeys in their town were being killed and eaten.
At their friend Charlie's house, they decided to wear turkey armbands to school to show they wanted the eating of turkeys to end.

This is the armband they made to wear during December.

The Principals at their school learned about their plan.

They decided to ban the armbands on December 14.

Charlie and Lucy still wore their armbands to school on December 16.

The school sent them home for breaking the rules.

The next day, Linus was also sent home for wearing his armband.

They didn't come back to school until New Years' Day, when they had planned to stop wearing the armbands.

Their parents wanted to stop the school from punishing them and told the great judges of the land.

The great judges had to decide: did ending the armbands stop the students from using their freedom to say anything?
