Irish people celebrated many different festivals in the past. Let's have a look at the most popular ones!

1st of February:
Imbolc
Imbolc is the root of St. Brigid's day in modern Ireland. It was formerly used to honour the pagan goddess of Spring, Brigid. Originally, people who celebrated Imbolc would make models of the goddess Brigid from rushes. Over the years, as the festival changed to St. Brigid's day, people began making St. Brigid's crosses instead.

Another festival that Irish people celebrated in the past is called 'Bealtaine'.
1st of May:
Bealtaine
Bealtaine was used to mark the beginning of Summer and it is believed that it was used to honour the pagan god 'Bel'. The day before 'Bealtaine' was very lively and joyful - people got married, lit up bonfires and held feasts to celebrate the warmer weather. It was also believed that Bealtaine is a day when there are big gaps between the living and spiritual world. This is when fairies and creatures would be most active, but beware - not all of them have good intentions!
