Dora and Boots always go on adventures. They
were really excited for this adventure in
particular. This is the furthest they have gone
away from home by themselves, and are
getting to learn a lot too, which is always a
plus! Dora and Boots couldn't be more excited!
They are going to go to the lake to go
swimming, then going to learn a few things
about cooking, and finally going to a hospital
to learn about the things the doctors do.

Dora and Boots started on their adventure that early
afternoon. Their first stop was to the lake to go swimming.
Once they got there they had to get into the backpack to get
out the radio to listen to music while they swam.
"Backpack, backpack," Dora says.
"What are you needing Dora?"
"Boots and me want a radio, so we can listen to music while
we swim!" Dora says.
"I think you may be in luck! Did you know that a radio gives
off radio waves?"
"What are radio waves, Backpack?" asks Boots.
"A radio wave is a type of electromagnetic radiation. It is part
of the electromagnetic spectrum. There are a lot of different
types of waves. Here is a sheet with all of them and what they
are used with. See if you can find one thing on your adventure
today for each one."

"Each wave has each of these characteristics: wavelength, frequency,
speed. Wavelength is the distance between the crests, or the top of
the wave. Frequency is the number of wavelengths that pass a point
each second, and finally the speed is the same for each wave. The
speed is equal to the speed of light, which is 299,792,458 m/s.
"Woah! That's a big number, but we should get back to swimming
now."
While Dora and Boots were swimming people decided to start a movie.
Dora and Boots decided to stay for awhile and watch a little bit of it.
While watching the movie Boots decides to look over the sheet of the
electromagnetic spectrum. "Dora, look!"
"What is it Boots?!" says Dora.
"Look under the visible light category!" Boot says.
"Movie! We are watching a movie now! We already have two done,
now we only have five left!" Dora exclaimed.
"We better get going for our cooking lessons. Maybe we will find more
on the way." Boot states.

Dora and Boots arrive at the hospital, and meet Dr.
Hernandez. "Are you guys ready for the hospital tour?"
asks Dr. Hernandez.
"Ready as we'll ever be!" says Boots.
"Is there anything you guys would you specifically like to
learn about?"
"Well, actually there is something, but I don't know if
you will be able to help us with it," says Dora.
"What is it?" asks Dr. Hernandez.
"Is there anything you guys do, or work with that have
to do with the electromagnetic spectrum?" asked Boots.
"Are you kidding me? Of course we do!" exclaimed Dr.
Hernandez.

Dora and Boots finally arrived at their cooking lesson.
Today they had to choose a type of bake good. Boots
and Dora chose to bake a banana cake.
Dora and Boots finished baking their cake, and tasted it.
It was amazing! "We should see if we found any other
waves," suggested Boots.
"That's a great idea Boots!" said Dora. "We used the
infrared wave when we put our delicious banana cake
mix in the oven. We also found a microwave, when we
used the microwave to melt our butter!"
"Who knew just cooking a cake you could use two
different types of waves?!" exclaimed Boots. "Now we
have our hospital tour to go to, let's go!"
