This book is dedicated to my parents, James and Lois, and my family who lived on the farm with me when I was growing up.

Jo is a little girl who lives on a farm.
She loves her little dog Twinkle.

Jo also loves to be outside and watch her father plowing the field with his tractor.

Sometimes Jo takes a walk in the woods with Twinkle.
She loves walking in the woods.

One day Jo found a beautiful spot in the woods. She said to Twinkle "This is a beautiful spot and I am going to name it Paradise."

I love this spot in the woods. I will make a sign for Paradise.

WELCOME TO PARADISE
POPULATION: ONE
Jo made a sign and put it on a tree.
Twinkle was happy to be in Paradise with Jo.

Jo started walking home from Paradise.
While walking through the woods she saw a flower.

This flower is very pretty, Twinkle.
I'm going to take one home with me and give it to my grandmother.

Jo walked further and saw a log.
She wanted to jump off the log.
She climbed up on the log and jumped off.
Twinkle walked around the log.

Jo walked out of the woods and by the pasture where her father's pigs live.
The mother pig had 3 baby pigs.
Jo walked quietly so the mother pig would not be worried about her baby pigs.

Twinkle, we need to walk quietly by the pigs.
If you bark then the mother pig may think her babies are in danger.

Jo stopped at her favorite tree at the end of the path.
Thank you for not barking at the pigs, Twinkle.

Jo couldn't remember which way to go home.
I remember this tree but I forgot which path takes me home.

Jo was happy when she saw her father on his tractor.

Jo's father said, "I will take you to your grandparents' house."

Jo's grandparents were happy to see her.
