Once upon a time, there was a little girl.  

The little girl was shy and did not have any 

friends.   She was a smart little girl.   She 

knew all of her ABC’S.   The little girl’s 

name was Amara. 

Amara was shy because she did not look the 

same as the other kid, but she made a 

friend named Sophia. Amara did not feel 

like she was pretty like her new friend.  

Although having Sophia as her new friend 

made her feel happy.

The next day on a little boy named Jake 

was being mean to Amara.   He made fun of 

her. Jake made Amara cry when he said 

that mean stuff to her.   When Sophia saw 

Amara crying, she felt very mad at Jake 

for making her friend cry.

Sophia went to tell the teacher what Jake 

said to Amara.   When Sophia told the 

teacher that Amara was crying. The 

teacher asked what was wrong.   Sophia told 

her what Jake had said to Amara. She said 

“Jake said that Amara was ugly.”

When the teacher found Jake, the teacher 

told   Jake to say sorry to Amara.   Jake said 

to Amara, “I am sorry that I called you 

ugly.” Amara said that she forgave him for 

being mean to her.   Then the teacher told 

Jake that it is not good to be mean.
