Look through the Muslim to know part
of Chinese culture.
By Xi Li (Alison)

Hi This is Alison, I am a Chinese ethnic
minorities. I think the reason why we are write
this book is “everybody Roza Heyitingizga
Mubarak Bolsun!” Do you know what I was
saying? Probably not, because I was not
speaking English. I was speaking my mother
longue which means that “happy Fast Breaking
Festival” everybody!”

This is one of these tree major festivals for the
muslims all around the world. It is celebrated
by millions, billions of people including those
here in China all those nations.
For example,
Hui, Uygur, Kazak, Uzbek, Tajik, Tatar, Kirgiz,
Salar, Dongxiang, Baoan even.

Really cool! I really like this name, awesome!
Well, How much do you know about this
festival?
You have to know how to do this holiday? So
today, ah, let me introduce you to this very
important festival so that we can grow the
growth of knowledge about the common sense
of it.
Let’s take a look!

Of course, first you have a problem, since it is
Eid, then it is surely first fasting right? Yes,
this process it is called Ramadan, let’s take a
look. It is the ninth month of the Islamic
calendar. It is considered to be one of the
most sacred months of the year. But the dates
can vary. Sometimes it is 29th, other times it
is 3oth days. It depends on the positions of the
crescent moon. Well, it is said that Islamic
classic Quran was revealed to Prophet
Muhammad this month.

And observing Ramadan is considered to be
one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Very very
important and quite challenging. Let me show
you. For all the muslims during this month will
require to from dawn until sunset refrained
from consuming food, drinking liquid, smoking
and cursing. At the same time, we have to
practice abstinence during the day time. But
we need to eat of course, we are not
supermen. We will eat before the dawn and
after the sunset.

Ok, at the same time during the Ramadan, the
muslims are encouraged to pray and do a lot
of charity. I think this is really a good thing to
contribute to the society. And during all those
processes, there will be all those good things
for the muslims too.Well, we will try to have
more self-discipline and cleanse the soul. Also
at the same time by having this sense of thirst
and hunger, we will feel more empathy for
those who are less fortunate. And we will
appreciate and will be thankful to our great
life. And I think that’s a good good practice.

Of course, after all those hardship, we will
finally the festival itself, the Fast Breaking
Festival. And during that day which is today,
we have to bath and be in our festival best
which is really cool. I didn’t change, you see
just to busy to buy a new suit. Maybe I should
buy one. After that we will go to the Mosque
for prayer and then it will be the routines for
the festival. For example, visit relatives for
these extended family greetings.
