About the Author 28
A forest is now burned down,
but a new world is found.
So many black trees it makes your heart leap
when you see so much green.
So many fire followers
like Acorn and Pileated woodpeckers.
There's yelping and destruction when a fire does burn,
but fire can help and there’s still so much to learn.

Egrets fly,
Birds across the sky.
When a pelican spots a fish it dives,
and every sea creature has a wish to hunt and survive.

The animals come in as the tide goes out,
There's lots of wildlife to be seen, no doubt.
Hermit crabs are little underwater thieves,
Because they steal slime from anemones.
Sea stars yellow, orange, and red,
Looking for them in their bed.
When a heron sees a fish it snatches it up,
Better catch it quick, good luck!
Tidepools are such a special place,
They bring awe and joy to everyone's face.
Redwoods, redwoods as they stand,
Redwoods, redwoods are so grand.
Redwoods, redwoods not so many,
Redwoods, redwoods yet still plenty.
Redwoods are very tall, pygmies are very small.
Redwoods can have great height, redwood tops out of sight.
Albino, albino beautiful and white,
Albinos are hidden in plain sight.
Albinos should not be able to survive,
But somehow these plants are alive.
Trees over a thousand years old,
Home to many creatures I'm told.
It is peaceful and quiet not a single coyote howl,
Please hike at Henry Cowell.

Males fight, birds take flight.
Flipping sand, on the land.
Pups feed, as alpha bulls take lead.
Faster than you would think they are amazing.

so let's all give a cheer!
February: February holds Valentines day
with kisses and candy, now doesn’t that sound dandy?
March: March holds St. Patrick's day,
some leprechauns and tricks are heading your way!
April: Easter usually happens in April where you color eggs with dye, and the Easter Bunny comes but no one knows why.

May: May has many beautiful flowers
and it’s all thanks to those spring showers.
June: June is when school gets out,
let's all give a BIG shout!
July: The 4th of July is a special day,
it's the U.S.A’s birthday!
August: August is the month with the most birthdays,
so when it's yours go out and play.
September: September is the end of summer,
now isn’t that a big bummer?

November: November has Thanksgiving day,
I won’t eat a turkey, no way!
October: Halloween is in October,
better go trick-or-treating before it’s over!
December: December is holidays all the way through, here's a card and a present just for you.

La-va, ve-ry hot
do not touch is what we’re taught.
The volcano does explode,
so much motion when it hits the ocean, oh.
As the fire and water fight,
it breaks the quiet of the night.
When the lava finally cools down,
much destruction is found.
Deserts are hot and deserts are cold
so when you go to deserts you have to be bold.
Camels have fat stored on their backs
so energy they do not lack.
The roadrunner when he runs is fast.
he runs to catch his prey in a flash.
A tortoise can usually hide in its shell
which usually works really well.
Animals can live in the desert and handle the hot sun
so go to the desert to see the animals and you can have much fun.
