Once upon a time, there was a man named Andrew Jackson.  He was a general who defended New Orleans in the War of 1812, and the reason why we got Florida.

One day, James Monroe summoned him 

to the oval office. 

"What do you want me

to do Mr. President?"

"I want you to go into Florida, but don't

invade it!!!"

At the time, Florida was ruled by the Spanish.

But then, Jackson invaded Florida with 17,000 troops, which was illegal.

Jackson really ticked off some people in high places with his invasion of Florida. The Spanish government demanded that Jackson be punished. Everybody but John Quincy Adams wanted Jackson punished and apologize to Spain. He told Monroe to say, "Govern, or get out."
