What country is small and beautiful you ask? Morocco! Located in the northwest corner of Africa and is bordered by the North Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Algeria and
Mauritania are the land borders to the south and east. Morocco is about the same size as California.
Rabat, Morocco's capital, rests along the shores of the Bouregreg River and the Atlantic Ocean. It's known for landmarks that speak to its Islamic and French-colonial heritage.
Chefchaouen is known as "the Blue Pearl" of Morocco, known for its traditional houses painted in blue and white. The city is also called "Chaouen" by the inhabitants of the northern region. Leather and weaving workshops line its steep cobbled lanes.
The flag of Morocco symbolizes the opening of the country to the international. A red field with the green pentagram, a five-pointed linear star. This green pentagram is drawn with five straight lines; each line represents one of the five pillars of Islam.
Morocco is home to the world's largest desert known as the Sahara desert! In Africa, Morocco is the 25th largest country with a population of almost 34 million. Morocco is a tolerant, yet traditional culture with strong values and there are one or two etiquette rules to follow to ensure a smooth and respectful trip. As a Muslim country, clothing should be modest.
Morocco' official religion is Islam. The rhythm of life for Moroccans is dictated by religious celebrations throughout the year, such as Ramadan and Eid Al Adha. During these celebrations, most of them being public holidays, Moroccans focus on praying and spending time with their family.
