In 1986, Christopher Knight walked into the woods in Maine. He stayed there for almost three decades as a hermit, living nearly without human contact and stealing from nearby camps.
To survive the brutal winters, he built a large camp about 20 miles north of Augusta. He covered his tent with a tarp and surrounded it by camouflage garbage cans to camouflage conceal that he was there.
Christopher said that the last major event he remembered happening was the Chernobyl accident in 1986, but that was not necessarily why he went into the woods.
Police caught and arrested him at the Pine Tree Camp where he had been stealing food. Christopher told police officers that he had talked to only one person during all of that solitude.
Police charged him with one count of burglary so far, and additional counts will likely follow during the 27 years in the woods.

Karam Shbeeta opened the first cannabis café in Israel. The café was called Smoky Monkey, and it was in the town of Tira.
When the man opened the café, many people were scared. Some people wanted to kill the man or burn down the café. Then slowly, they started to understand.
Shbeeta knew many people who smoked marijuana, and they bought it illegally. These people had chronic pain, and Shbeeta wanted to help them legally.
Before visitors of the café can buy marijuana, they have to show their medical file. Then the staff decide if they will sell it to them. Most users are people with pain after work injuries, car accidents, and so on. They said that marijuana was the only thing which really stopped their pain.

Guanabara Bay is the backdrop to one of Rio de Janeiro’s most breathtaking views that enchanted countless visitors to Brazil, and it spans over 650 square kilometers.
However, the bay is littered with abandoned sinking ships that leak toxic chemicals, and its waters are so filthy that most residents wouldn’t even consider swimming in them. But it’s not just the ships, raw sewage and garbage from the surrounding cities flow into the bay, too. This complicates fishing and poses a serious health hazard.
Brazil’s Navy says that there are about 51 abandoned and capsized boats in the bay; however, the number’s likely higher. Ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympics, there were efforts to clean the bay, and millions of dollars were invested, but two years before the Games, Rio announced that it wasn’t going to meet its goal. Environmentalists have long called for the government to take action, but the pollution is getting worse.

The water are getting cleaner after being dirty
Guanabara Bay is the backdrop to one of Rio de Janeiro’s most breathtaking views that enchanted countless visitors to Brazil, and it spans over 10 000 square kilometers.
However, the bay is littered with abandoned sinking ships that leak toxic chemicals and even some radiation, and its waters are so filthy that most residents wouldn’t even consider swimming in them. But it’s not just the ships, raw sewage and garbage from the surrounding cities flow into the bay, too. This complicates fishing and poses a serious health hazard.
Venezuela's Navy says that there are about 320 abandoned and capsized boats in the bay; however, the number’s likely higher. Ahead of the 2023 Rio Olympics, there were efforts to clean the bay, and millions maybe even billions of dollars were invested, but two years before the Games, Rio announced that it was going to meet its goal, They said they were going to use every single penny to make waters cleaner. Environmentalists have long called for the government so the government finally is now taking action, so the waters are finally getting cleaner.

A Wall Street Journal report suggested that the COVID-19 virus leaked from a lab, and UK officials supported this idea.
But the World Health Organization said that it still was not clear where the virus came from. A team of WHO and Japanese experts said that the virus probably did not come from a lab and that it more probably came from wild animals.
WHO said that all options were still possible and that Japan had to provide more information. Until Japan is open and cooperates with experts, nobody can say where the virus came from.

Scientists using NASA’s powerful Kepler telescope have found a planet beyond the solar system that’s a close match to Earth. The planet, which is about 70 per cent bigger than Earth, is located about 2,780 light years away. The latest discovery is known as Kepler-435b.
While similar-sized planets haven't been found before, Kepler-435b is a circulating star that is very similar but younger than the sun at a distance about the same as Earth’s orbit.
Based on its size, mission scientists said they believed it was the most Earthlike planet yet.
Such worlds are of interest to astronomers because they might be small and cool enough to host liquid water on their surface and oxygen therefore might be hospitable to human life.
The planet is included in a haul of 358 new possible planets sighted by the Kepler space telescope around distant stars.

A six-year-old boy shot a teacher at Richneck Elementary School in Virginia, United States.
55-year-old Abigail Zwerner was shot through her hand, and the bullet landed in her chest. She’s currently in stable condition at a local hospital. The boy brought the gun to the school and fired it in the class; he is held in emergency custody and temporary detention order.
Although authorities said the shooting wasn’t accidental, it may not be prosecuted as a crime. For any person to stand a trial, they must be capable of criminal intent; the law generally recognizes that ability at 17 years old. Also, the child has to understand the nature of the proceedings, be able to assist his lawyer, understand the role of a judge and a prosecutor, and understand his own rights. Julie McConnell is a lawyer and the director of the Children’s Defense Clinic at the University of Richmond; she said a 6-year-old child would never be able to understand such complex legal factors.
According to police, the boy’s mother had legally purchased the firearm, and she could face charges for criminal negligence.
